Trip Details

This tour is designed in such a way that you will experience an off road jeep ride to one of the beautiful and unexplored places here in Nepal.  This 12-day jeep tour will give you a chance to visit different places in the Mustang region and experience and be part of one of the popular festival here the Tiji festival.  We will spend three days in Upper Mustang witnessing this festival.  We will also be travelling through cities like Kathmandu, Pokhara, Marpha, Jomsom, and Kagbeni and visit monasteries, palace, and school in these places.  Age old well-preserved monasteries and palaces will take you back in time.  The scripts and paintings on the walls of the monasteries will help you to know about the history which dates back to many years.  These have been well preserved by the local people living here, so we must respect their norms and values.  We will experience the beauty of surrounding mountains like Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Fishtail and many other mountains as well as rivers, waterfalls, and lakes.  Bordered with Tibet, the culture here is mostly influenced by Buddhism.  Lifestyle and culture are almost similar to the Tibetan community.

Itinerary

• Day 1 Arrival

  Upon arrival, our representative will pick you up at the airport and upon completing airport duties; you will be transferred to the hotel. You will check in at the hotel and freshen up and rest for a while. After a while, if time allows, you will be touring around the Kathmandu city. You will be visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kathmandu Durbar Square. Temple of Taleju Bhawani, Kumari Ghar, Kaal Bhairab, Radha Krishna Temple, and museum are some of the places to see here. We can also do some souvenir shopping around the durbar square area. After exploring around the area, we will now return back to our hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.

• Day 2 Kathmand to Pokhara Fly

  After breakfast, we will prepare to fly to Pokhara. We will get an early morning flight to Pokhara from Tribhuwan International Airport. It is about 30 minutes of scenic flight to Pokhara with the good view of mountains in the distance and valleys and rivers below. Upon reaching, we will check into the hotel. Free time, we will stroll around the beautiful city of lakes and if time allows, we will do boating on the Fewa lakes and walk around the lakeside. Overnight stay at the hotel.

• Day 3 Drive Pokhara to Jomsom 9 hrs jeep ride

  After breakfast, we will get on a jeep to reach Jomsom. It will take about 9 hours to reach there. Though the road is black topped for the first 2 hours, remaining road is totally off road. We will pass through Beni, Ghasa, and Marpha to reach Jomsom. The rocky off road is built on the bank of Kali Gandaki river. The view of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri mountains on the distance plays hide and seek throughout the ride. After about 9 hours of bumpy ride on a rocky trail we will now reach Jomsom. It is a famous spot for tourists trekking Annapurna Circuit. There are lots of hotels, lodges, ATMs, banks, restaurants, airport. Overnight stay at the hotel.

• Day 4 Jomsom to Ghami, 8 hours drive

  Today is an 8-hour drive to reach Ghami. We will drive off road rocky trail via Kagbeni. On the way, we will visit SS of Kag Chode Thupten Samphel Ling Monastery in Kagbeni. We will spend some time there exploring the area. It is also a school where you will see monks reading chants and praying. It is one of the old monasteries here in Kagbeni. After some time exploring the area, we will again get to the jeep to reach Ghami. Different shapes of deserted barren land are an absolute beauty with the snow-capped mountains in the backdrop. After about 8 hours, we now reach Ghami. Overnight stay at the hotel.

• Day 5 Ghami to Lo Manthang. En route SS of Chedey Gompa and Tsarang palace in Tsarang: 1st day of Tiji

  Driving on the rocky road continues up to Lo Manthang. Beautiful view of the surrounding area is stunning. On the way, we will see different monasteries and village and people doing their daily activities. Prayer wheels, stone inscriptions, and paintings can be seen while drive. During the drive, we will visit SS of Chadey Gompa and Tsarang Palace in Tsarang. It is a beautiful well preserved palace of the ancient royals. We will spend some time exploring the monastery and palace and then continue to drive to reach Lo Manthang. It is the first day of Tiji festival, which is one of the popular festivals celebrated here. It is celebrated for three days, so for the rest of the three days, we will be part of the festival. We will see the preparations done for the festivals in this first day. Overnight stay at the hotel.

• Day 6 Acclimatization in Lo Manthang: Second Day of Tiji

  Today is the acclimatization day here as well as second day of Tiji festival. We will explore around the local places and hike up little high to get a good view of the Lo Manthang. It is the festival celebrated by the indigenous people of Kingdom of Lo Manthang. Apart from that, people from the surrounding places also visit here to take part in the festival. This festival is celebrated for the world peace and remembered as a victory by good over evil. Different mask dancers act as a good and evil spirits. And the monks from the monastery perform different rituals during this festival. We will observe the festival for the whole day. Overnight stay at the hotel.

• Day 7 Stay in Lo Manthang: Third day or Tiji

  Today is the third day here of Tiji. Apart from observing the festival, today we will local area and different monasteries like Chodey Gompa, Jampa Gompa, Thupchen Gompa. If time allows, we will also explore some other monasteries here. We will communicate with the local people here to know more about the festivals, rituals, culture, and living standards of the local people. It will be more knowledgeable to talk with the local people to know about the surroundings. Free time, we will explore the surrounding village. Overnight stay at the hotel.

• Day 8 Lo Manthang to Chuksang: 6 hrs drive

• Day 9 Chuksang to Jomsom

  Today is a descend from Chuksang to Jomsom. The road is rocky off road passing different villages and monasteries. Deserted landscape with the mountain views of the backdrop is amazing throughout the drive. In about 5 hours, we now reach Jomsom. Free time, we will explore the surrounding, visit local shops to buy souvenirs and local foods. There are lots of hotels, restaurants, and banks here in Jomsom. You can explore the local places and have a walk around the bank of Kali Gandaki river. Overnight stay at the hotel

• Day 10 Chuksang to Jomsom

  Today will be long drive to reach Pokhara from Jomsom. It will take almost 7-8 hours to reach Pokhara. So after an early breakfast, we prepare to drive. En route, we will have a quick visit to the Marpha village where there is an apple farm. After a quick stop by, we will again drive back visiting Ghasa, Tatopani, Beni and then to Pokhara. Road up to Beni is off road and from Beni is a graveled easy drive to Pokhara. In about 8 hours, we now reach Pokhara. If time allows, we will walk around the lakeside in the evening and visit local restaurants or pub for a dinner. Overnight stay at the hotel.

• Day 11 Fly to Kathmandu

  It is an early morning flight from Pokhara. After breakfast, we will drive to airport and connect to a 30-minute of scenic flight to Kathmandu. Free afternoon time, we will explore the local market and do some souvenir shopping for the friends and families like spices, herbs, pashminas, thankas, and paintings. We will also visit some local places if time allows. Overnight stay at the hotel.

• Day 12 Departure

  Today is the final day of our tour here in Nepal. After breakfast, we will check out of your hotel and our team will drive you back to you airport to connect you with the ongoing flight. With lots of experience and memories to share with your friends and families, we will now depart in hope to seeing you back again for the amazing trip here in Nepal.
